What happened to Mary Day?
While he monitored the Mary Day investigation, Cercone was appointed Police Chief in the Sea, after which he put it. Mark Clark responsible.
But Clark, not more closely to confirm if “Phoenix Mary”, which they took to call her, really was the Mary left the investigation in 2008.
Flush forward to 2017, when Sherrie found out that the woman she still could not believe was her sister dying from cancer in Warsaw, Mo. She called Seaside’s acting police chief Judy Veloz.
Like Veloz, now retired, said in the ID show, she went out to Warsaw and sat down with Mary, who was at Hospice, for 90 minutes.
She still “didn’t remember” the battle, Veloz said, and “didn’t know exactly when or how” she left the house in the sea in 1981. But she said she had been taken in by “an elderly lady” view BJ department in Salinas.
Mary died nine days after their interview, Veloz said.
She said 48 hours 2020 That she was “100 percent convinced” that the woman she was talking to was Mary Louise Day. “No question.”
Back in Seaside, Veloz said in the ID show 2025, she was enough for BJ Ward, and BJ’s boyfriend said he thought he might have a picture of Mary in storage.
When she looked at the picture a few weeks later, Veloz said, she recognized the missing teenager.
She called it “a correct proof that Mary was not killed in 1981”, noting that the picture had been taken in 1983. And so, Veloz said, she had “nothing to do yet to close the case again.”
