Watching The Monkey Trailer makes me wonder if this could be the funniest Stephen King movie ever

There is plenty of fun in the long history of Stephen King movies, from intentional campiness of Kryphow to the extreme finesse of Maximum overdrivebut comedy is rarely a dominant force. In the case of King, the audience is much more familiar with terror and drama. All that said, Osgood Perkins upcoming film The monkey It looks like it will break new ground when it releases early next year, as the first full trailer has plenty of scares but also a surprisingly weird attitude.

Perkins is best known for making the 2024 summer horror hit – the serial killer thriller Long – And the Stephen King short story on which the film is based maintains a heavy, ominous tone throughout, but The monkey Adaptation seems to take on an entirely different energy. There is a lot of death and blood, but it all comes with a wink that lets the audience know there are fun times ahead.
