In just their second year, Vermont movie & folklore festival already expands its footprint in a big way: the newest vermont film Festival and the only international film festival in southern Vermont, today has announced that its other annual event will be held May 13-18, 2025 in Manchester and Brattleboro, Vermont.
Was founded by a pair of indie filles and the latest Manchester transplants in 2024 – Moviemaker Magazine Founder Tim Rhys and Filmmaker Magazine founder Karol Martesko window – This year’s edition will include events in both Manchester and Brattleboro. For those of you who are not native to Manchester (as this High and proud writer), the two cities are about an hour’s drive from each other, which means that the events will now be available for a whole new segment of the Vermont population.
Part of the appeal for the festival? A new partnership with Brattleboros Latchis Theater, which will include the use of “four dedicated film screens, a renovated vintage hotel and an art deco lounge as a species Deco -Lounge, which has been included in Friday’s announcement.
Rhys, festival director and co -founder said in an official statement: “We are extremely proud to extend VFFF only their second year and are pleased that people have come out so strongly in support of this event. This is a challenging time for art in general and for film Festivals In particular, and many struggles to keep their programming robust, so it is a credit to the generosity of the people and companies in southern Vermont that we can bring even more films and filmmakers to our brave little state this year. ”
The first VFFF was held in May 2024 and contained more than 40 films from all over the world, including award-winning American and international features, classic Hollywood features of 16mm and an impressive selection of shorts and features of Vermont film creators.
The founders’ goal for the 2025 edition is to “contain even more concrete opportunities for Vermont film creators to produce and cooperate with each other for new work.”
Against this purpose, they have also announced today that VFFF sponsoring the “VFFF story’s $ 20,000”, which, through cash and natural help, will encourage a filmmaker/narrator from Vermont or with strong Vermont band to create a movie in Vermont. The grant is focused on facilitating stories and film production in the Green Mountain State. In addition, the festival has extended the final deadline for submissions to March 24.
Festival organizers look forward to extended partnerships for 2025 and encourage anyone interested in the festival to get in touch with festival director Tim Rhys on Vermontfilmandfolleklorefestival@gmail.com.
