Almost three years ago it began to shoot and Nearly five years since the original film first met NetflixThe Streamer’s hit action franchise “The Old Guard” is finally ready to release their sequel. Streamer today announced that ”The old guard 2, “The other film in Charlize Theron-Stal Comic Book Adaptation Series will start streaming globally on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
The movie, directed by Victoria Mahoney (that takes over from the original director Gina Prince-Bythewood) Comes with a script of Greg Rucka (who wrote the original comic book miniseries on which the films are based) and Sarah L. Walker. And Theron, who also produces, is united by a number of new and returning stars, including Kiki Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngô, Henry Golding, Uma Thurman and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Per The Film’s Official Synopsis: “Andy (Charlize Theron) and Her Team of Immortal Warriors Are Back, with a Renewed Sense of Purpose in their Mission to Protect the World. With Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) Still in exile after His Bettyal, Escaping Her Underwater Prison, Andy Grapples with her Newfound mortality as a mysterious threat emerges that could jeopardize everything she has been working for for thousands of years.
Last year, Theron told Variety That the release increases had been a product of various changes on both Netflix and thereafter. “Netflix underwent a pretty change. We got stuck in it and our postal production was closed, I think, five weeks in,” she said. “They went through many changes, and I understand it completely. We finally picked it back and I’m really excited about it.”
