The final of ‘The Night Agent’ Season 2: What happened? What is next?

The editor’s note: The following posts contain spoilers for “The night agent“Season 2.

“The Night Agerto” Season 2 ends with Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) in a precarious position – but this is not the first time he (or his family) has been there.

Shawn Ryans Netflix The series released another 10 episodes on January 23, with Season 3 already confirmed. That announcement was enough to guarantee an open end, but season 2 still ends its central arches quite neatly (it’s not “Squid Game 2” Cliffhanger, anyway). But exactly how did it weave together a formidable dictator, intelligence broker, Iranian intelligence service and a presidential candidate? We break down everything below.

The attack

The nerve-wracking final begins with Peter and everyone else converging against the UN, who is being evacuated to assess a threat in the HVAC system. Very few people know that the threat is KX, the chemical agent that Rose (Luciane Buchanon) helped Dr. Cole (Jay Karnes) to produce in a lab for Markus (Michael Malarke) and his team. The persecution sequences are easily some of the most tense in this show’s history, with victims on all pages when Markus flees with a jar, Keep Sloane (Elise Kibler) hostage and eventually killed.

It is always refreshing to see Rose get more to do in this show. Season 2, Section 10 gives dividends for her work with face recognition – both digitally and analogously – as well as utilization of chemical knowledge such as Dr. Cole mediated to save thousands of lives. During season 2, she became more and more physically involved in the action, even when Peter’s instincts around her became more protective.

The losses

There is a lot of bloodshed this season, from Alice (Brittany Snow) in the cold to Tomás (Rob Heaps) at the end of section 9, but one of the most influencing deaths was Farhad (Kiarash Amani), Noors (Arienne) Mandi) brother as was supposed to evacuate Iran on her order. It happened in the middle of the season, but stands out because of Marjan Neshat’s performance as her mother, who witnesses it all. From there, reality begins slowly, the fear permeates the show through other characters until Noor finds out. Her story is mostly surrounded by the final, but there is a scene where mother and daughter learn that they have received asylum and accept a seemingly pitiful check for their problems.

“This is what America thinks my brother was worth?” Noor asks distrust.

Depending on when Season 3 is gaining momentum and based on what we saw by Governor Hagans (Ward Horton) supporters, maybe Noor does not think the US is as safe and welcoming as she hoped – and without her brother all the hope of a normal and carefree life died With him. No matter how painful this whole bow is, it is worth noting that “The Night Agent” is a show that started with Rose losing its loved ones, and who bottomed out in the fact that people, above all, in the end are worth protect.

The deal

This happened in section 9, but it is crucial for the finals and future seasons; Peter released Solomon (Berto Colon) in exchange for a meeting with his manager Jacob (Louis Herthum), and an agreement. Peter went Awol for the second time this season to secure these files, and although Solomon did not last long, he was free at the time of his death and threatened Catherine (Amanda Weaver).

In addition to moral gymnastics to do business with Jacob, these actions betray the strength of Peter’s feelings for Rose – and how vulnerable those feelings make him. He is straightforward enough to complete the assignment and save everyone, and also to submit himself, but not without having a serious conversation with Rose. As long as he is a night ageant, she will never be sure, how much she does not care and wants to stay by his side. (Anyone else who knows to see if “Spider-Man 2?”)

Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington (Fola Evans-Kingbola) appears in the final, as part of the detail that protects Governor Hagan (Ward Horton). Hagan is entirely in leadership with Jacob, “Information Broker”, and uses his knowledge to move on in his presidential campaign. The service Peter did for Jacob was to secure audio files that linked Hagan’s opponents to Viktor Bala (Dikran Tulaine) and Foxglove – which forced him to cancel his candidacy as president and anything but guarantee Hagan’s victory. Catherine explains all this with clarity; Peter’s actions will have enormous consequences for the country.

The section ends with Peter making something too familiar: Waiting at a phone. Catherine commissioned him to be a double agent (like his father!); All he has to do is respond to Jacob’s conversation – and no one knows better than Peter Sutherland how much a person’s life can change from a phone call.

“The night agent” is now streamed on Netflix.
