For David Corenswet and Rachel BrosnahanTheir chemistry is read as Clark Kent and Lois Lane – or Superman And Lois Lane – was over and finished as fast as it started.
Corenswet told People That he met “The amazing Mrs Maisel” Emmy winner “In a kind of movement of handshakes and Hellos.” It was the summer of 2023, Brosnahan had flew Into Los Angeles From New York City, and she was back for a performance of “The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s window” on Broadway.
“We said a quick hello, and he was … very nice and very long, and we read the stage together,” Brosnahan told People. The scene in question, Corenswet remembered, was on the long side, 10-12 pages, and stopped being shot again for the final film.
“None of us really knew what we were doing,” he said. “We had each made the scene with other people, so we were not sure if the blockage would be the same or if we would figure something else between the two of us. So I think we both thought it was … kind of warm -up, and we would get a new shot. And then (author/director James Gunn) screamed, “cut” and said, “Fantastic, it was amazing. Okay, Rachel, I think you will be on a plane. ‘”
“The whole thing is a kind of blur,” Brosnahan said. “Honestly, I don’t remember anything about it. And then we said goodbye, and that was it.”
“The next thing that happened was we found out we were cast. We didn’t know each other at all, “Corenswet said.
Because they would follow in the footprints of Former portrait Like Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams, the stars knew that they had to meet and get to know each other.
“We had had this short but obviously influencing moment together during our chemistry read … But I think we both left to feel that we didn’t remember anything about it and wanted to spend some time together. We had a really lovely breakfast (in New York) after we found out that we would play the roles together … and learned each other that way,” remember Brosnahan.
Through the long production shots, the two taught each other very well and discovered that they were so good stage partners, they would often be completely lost in their characters.
“She made me curse her,” Corensswet laughed. “The way she delivered a certain line made me involuntary to say, ‘oh, f *** you,’ which I think was a great shock to all of us … she caught me by guard and made me feel really hurt at that moment, and so I, in character, shot back on her.”
But not all moments were so dramatic. Brosnahan remembered for an easier time where Corenswet made an “expression of how injured he was”, and she thought it was “so fun.” “I think of the face he did at that moment all the time,” she said.
