While Sundance has not had a lot of the late evening -supporting war that we used to see during the old good days of the festival, the Los Angeles fires and the advent of the online platform suggest that we will still see some offers close for a few days. It is good considering that over 60 films come into this year’s Sundance and are looking for home. As we previously reported Even more distributors can become creative.

“Together”

Buzz: It is the first – and only – big of the festival so far, one of the rare titles this year that attracted a classic, aggressive bid war after its premiere on Sunday evening at Eccles. Neon knocked out other tenderers including A24 and Mubi to release filmWith a source that says the deal was probably north of $ 10 million in the low 8-digit range. Neon’s financing equipment 30west was also behind this one, which did well. “Together”, director Michael Shanks’ Body Horror Film, is about a married couple whose relationship is already tested and who decides to move to the countryside to get closer, just for a supernatural meeting to give them their desire in Spader – and in meat. Stars and producers Brie and Franco are a truly married couple, so the film has a meta element that made this particularly juicy.
“The reality of hope”

Buzz: Before the premiere on Saturday, January 25, AI Animation Studio Asteria and the documentary free streaming platform Documentary+ swept in to acquire this doc card that mixes VR and live action film. The film follows Hiyu, a Virtual Reality World Builder based in Stockholm that suffers from kidney failure and will receive a transplant from a friend, New York-based photographer, which he only knows through an online VR Community where they are each one as they can be seen an animal “furry” avatar. Doc+ will release the film later this year on its Avod platform and through its various fast channels. Asteria’s brown Mooser and Justin Lacob join the project as executive producers.
“One to one: John and Yoko”

Buzz: First premiere at the Venice Film Festival and then at Telluride, Magnolia bought “One to One” just before her Sundance screening and made a splash to give it an IMAX exclusive edition on April 11, the first time Magnolia has collaborated with IMAX on a release. It will then land at Max and HBO at the end of 2025. The film follows the 18 months that John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent residents in Greenwich Village in the early 1970s, including restored images from the only full concert that Lennon appeared after Have broken up from the Beatles, the one to a Madison Square Garden Benefit concert. The film has an audio recovery that is monitored by Sean Lennon Ono.
