Should not a First lookyou know, actually gives you a First look On a movie? Especially when it’s First glimpse of a “Star Wars” set that we have seen in over six years?
It has been so long since “The Rise of Skywalker” came out, so long that Lucasfilm has thought what The future of “Star Wars” would be on the big screen. And now we have heard that the upcoming ”Star Wars: Starfighter “, which was set in the years after” Rise of Skywalker, “has set much of the rest of her role – Amy Adams, Aaron Pierre, Flynn Gray, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman and Daniel join the already announced announced announces Ryan GoslingMatt Smith and Mia Goth – come in production and give us a first look.
If you can even call it a first look. What is the opposite of a first look? An empty stirring. That’s a bit what Gosling and Gray do above.
Look, a posed photo of the actors that are only themselves is not always horrible – EPOCHAL 2014 “Force Awakens” Cast Photo Be incredible, just to see Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford occupy the same space again, but it meant an interest that is simply not there for “Starfighter.”
Three IndieWire employees had strong thoughts on this ”Star Wars: Starfighter“First look, and we will air them as overheated plasma.

During a normal working day – especially one in the thick of the autumn film Festival season-man can probably imagine the gluten of emails that come with tick attachment in the OL ‘IndieWire inboxes, so the unexpected ones? They require a higher interest in making me click. A “First Look” image of the next “Star Wars” movie? It fits the bill – but unfortunately. There is no doubt that many words and phrases have lost their meaning in recent years, and “first look” seems to be one of them, at least in the entertainment space.
What should a real “first look” be? Well, for my money it should be one actual Production still, a first look not really behind the curtain, but next to it. I want to get a sense of what the final movie will look like and feel, a little action, a small movement. A black and white still – not, it seems clear, a photo taken during the filming of a real scene – with our stars (or is it their characters? It is always unclear) to just rest on a national tense, all so dark and confused that it is impossible to see much else? There are, eh, big pipes? Sure. Star Ryan Gosling Power Wear a cape? Good.
It is good enough to mark production start with some glamor shoots, but a “first look” does not, as it does not speak to the primary function for this type of photos: it does not tell about the movie itself. It doesn’t even tell you about manufacturing Of this movie (consider the latest first look for Richard Linkaters “Nouvelle Vaga”, which captured the Impish Creative Charm that goes through the final film). And didn’t even get started using black and white. “Star Wars” movies used to have some pop and pizzazz, but this first look? Tells me nothing.

It’s not just fun, it’s appropriate to Very first response to discuss the film’s tweet With the photo is “it’s time for” run “in space.” Since there is almost nothing that actually connects “Star Wars” here other than the most vague outline of a country species. Why is this in black and white other than because of any idea that black and white means significance? If this is really a set from the film, it is the first glimpse of a “Star Wars” movie that has been sitting in over six years – we deserve to see it in color. Do you know, how the movie itself will be presented? Gosling doesn’t look like he’s in an air suit, and Flynn Gray looks like he’s just Ezra from “Star Wars: Rebels” comes to life, even though we know this movie will be at a time when Ezra is a middle -aged man. What is there to be really excited about?
You couldn’t even have a glimpse of a real “Star Wars” Starfighter in this first look at “Star Wars: Starfighter”? Maybe give us an A-wing, to think outside the box a bit. Hell, throw expanded universe fans one leg and make it an e-wing. I am not saying that there needs to be any Easter eggs to suggest that Gosling plays Corran Horn (but let’s realize it, all Diehard “Star Wars” fans will say that they can make much worse than adapting Michael A. StackPole and Aaron Allston’s comradelessly large “x -wing” books, but something to suggest.
“Who is to Guy? “People loved to ask that when Vanity Fair would run their (color!) First watches” Star Wars “movies back on the day. to guy? ”About this picture.

Sometimes a traumatic experience burns so deep into your psyche that your worldview has been irrevocably changed. For me, such a memory was the first appearance of “Tulsa King” season 1 that released. The year was 2022, we had not seen a trailer for the Sylvester Stallone-led Gangster series, and the world was hopelessly naive for the crime comedy residents waiting for us. But one day, our first bread bar arrived … and it was just a picture of Stallone that was in suit, looks exactly like I imagine he looks when he goes out for coffee on a random Tuesday.

Maybe it was just a formative memory because it came early in my media career, but I remember being stupid by the notion that a show whose entire appeal rested on a single star would announce with such a regular picture of the said star. (To give some reluctant credit, he Where Standing in Tulsa, but I feel it is a detail that we could have derived from the title.) Close friends to me know not to take up “Tulsa King” first the look around me anymore because it often deviates in a rant that has real potential to destroy one night.
“Tulsa King” has since become one of my favorite programs, so everything is well that ends well. But it was the day I decided I was done with the first look photos. I’m not even sure that the difference between black and white or color is important. I simply have no desire to see A-list stars look exactly Like themselves in a movie before, I have the chance to see a second of them in action. I don’t think there is a single person watching these things that do not already follow movies enough to be aware of what is coming out. These photos do not turn anyone, no matter what the devilishly stylish Ryan Gosling looks.
No one on this planet lacks opportunities to see pictures of celebrities anymore. We can google or stream anything at any time, and algorithms go out of their way to shoot our favorite beautiful people in our faces of all hours of the day. Still, we are still just uploading more pixels of the same people for computer servers simply because we can! Someone has to resist this madness, and I’m willing to risk everything to do it. I know that the attention buckles are getting shorter, but I really think humanity can wait for a trailer. We need less stimulation and more patience, and these unclearly named “first appearance” will not help us in any departments.
