Sterling K. Brown adapts adventure novel


Sterling K. Brown deepens its roots on Hulu. After starring in the iconic ABC series “This is us” (and later transformed with creator Dan Fogelman for the “paradise”), Emmy winner and Oscar -Nominated are back on streamer with the new adaptation of “Washington Black. ”

Brown Stars in and Executive produces the series based on ESI Edugyan’s best -selling novel of the same name about a young boy who leaves a plantation in the 1800s and goes into an adventure around the world. The Official Synopsis Reads: “‘Washington Black’ Follows The 19th-Century Odyssey of George Washington ‘Wash’ Black, An Eleven-Year-Woven Boy (Ernest Kingsley Jr.) Born on a Barbados Sugar Plantation, Whose Prigious Scient Harrowing Incident Forces Wash to Flee, He is Thrust Into a Globe-Spanning Adventure That Challenges and Reshapes His Understanding of Family, Freedom and Love.

Rupert Graves, Iola Evans, Edward Bluemel, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Eddie Karanja and Tom Elli’s co-star together with Brown. The project was announced 2021.

“Washington Black” is produced by the 20th TV production in collaboration with Indian Meadows Productions and Gotham Group. Together with Brown, Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, Kimberly Ann Harrison, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Wanuri Kahiu, Mo Marable, Rob Seidenglanz, Jeremy Bell, Lindsay Williams, DJ Goldberg, Jennifer Johnson and Anthony Hemingway. ESI Edugyan is a co -producer.

Hinds and Harrison are showrunners for the series, which is among Indieview’s most awaited series of the seasonS Indiwire’s Proma Khosla wrote The fact that “Washington Black” is the best choice for Hulu will debut in July.

Brown earlier told IndieWires Anne Thompson He chooses his roles based on who speaks to him. “(I want to) keep surprising people as much as I can,” he said. “I like to make people feel. (…) I will go where the story is, where the best story is told, with wonderful creative partnerships. I am happy to be in a place where I have a choice. It is a rarity in this business.”
