In E. Lockhart’s “We Were Liars”, Gatwick Patil is an outsider. He and his uncle are the only people on Beechwood Island who do not originate from the famous Sinclairs (“Old Money Democrats”, Lockhart calls them), a wrong puzzle piece in their privileged, white world.
The same can be said of Shubham Maheshwari, which arouses the beloved character Main Videoeight-section adaptation; An economy -Major from Dubai who tried via Zoom after an open casting call and then ended up in Nova Scotia for an absolute crash course in TV production.
But as a credit for the series, Maheshwari never felt like an outsider. He really knew as the child and the new child, but he also felt authorized by Lockhart, by Showrunners Carina Adly Mackenzie and Julie Ple, by Rahul Kohli (who plays Gat’s Uncle Ed), and by experienced contemporary contemporary Emily Alyn Lind, Esther and Joseph, in a cast, caitlin Gum, and fiter, mother Gum, and fit, and fit, and fit, and more).

“I usually don’t end a book in a meeting, but this was just such a captivating book. You want to know the end, you want to keep turning the page,” he said. “I don’t think we see too many shows or movies where the male leadership is Indian in a show that is predominantly white characters.”
GAT was written to be of Indian origin, as opposed to a “Bridgerton” or “One Day” converts (or misunderstanding from the reader, as with “The Hunger Games”). Maheshwari was surprised by positive Fan response to his casting, which confirmed how much readers love the book and culture in Lockharts fanbase.
“They didn’t even see us act yet,” he said with a laugh. “But they were so kind, and they expressed how happy they were. I was immediately as,” man, this is a responsibility. I don’t want to let go of these guys. “They have already given us so much love and given the book so much love, so they deserve a good show.
Many “we were liars” put Maheshwari and Lind alone in scenes together, responsible for the show’s main romantic bow. But outside the beloved Maheshwari the big family scenes because he had to “sit back and see these people do their things.”
Without much actors, Maheshwari trained as so many fans of the craft: by watching a shit-tone of movies.
