What we thought would be one of hottest sales titles on TIFF 2024 Have finally sold and will have a main theater edition. Sony Pictures Classics will release ”On fast horses“Period war drama and romance from director Daniel Minahan, acquire film in front Close SXSW Film & TV Festival next month.
“On Swift Horses” has a role that is as lively as it gets with Jacob ElordiThe Daisy Edgar-Jonesand Will Poulter and is based on a novel by Shannon Pufahl with a script by Bryce Kass. The film also plays Sasha Calle and Diego Calva.
The film follows Muriel and her husband Lee as they begin a bright new life in California as he returned from the Korea War. But their newly found stability is up by the arrival of Lee’s charismatic brother, Julius, a Wayward player with a secret past. A dangerous love triangle is formed quickly. When Julius takes off in search of the young card cheating he has fallen for, Muriel’s longing for something more drives her to a secret life of her own, playing on breed horses and exploring a love she never dreamed of.
After that Premiere on TIFF, IndieWire praised the performances by Elordi and Edgar-Jones and called it a romance that avoids conventions.
“‘On Swift Horses’ is a fantastic tableau of almost romance that weave together volatile moments of magic with the pain that inevitably follows when the universe removes them,” wrote Christian Zilko.
