Sonja O’Hara has a queer existential crisis


Sonja O’hara is back on the screen with another genre-bending queer feature, this time entitled “Snare. ”

O’Hara debuted with “Root Letter”, which played Danny Ramirez. Later she was Daytime Emmy -Nominated for creating, directing and leading role in horror series “Doomsday,” with the script inspired by being thrown in Scientology instructional videos. Now O’Hara launches its second feature “Snare” during Pride 2025, just as she is also one of the selected filmmakers that is part of Tribeca Creators Market.

“Snare” plays O’Hara as Rowena, a mycologist who studies the connection between all living fungal biology. Yet it is her own drug -driven chemistry with ex Jackie (Mars) who threatens to disturb the life she knows about it.

The official synopsis reads: “RO AND JAX is not right for each other, but the women cannot get to separate. It is a dark kismet that everyone found the individual on the planet that their brains are considered so desirable. Of freedom, they divide them further. Robert Longstält co -stars.

O’Hara told IndieWire that movies like “Blue are the hottest color” and “Woman under The Influence” led to her taking “snare.”

“I was driven to seek roles that reveal deep vulnerability and drive envelopes,” she said. “Like a queer, genre -creator, was the lens I knew how to explore it through.”

Co -star Mars added, “‘Snare’ seized me with his raw exploration of toxic love. These characters’ dependence on each other draws them into scary darkness and turning them into beautiful monsters in the name of love.”

O’Hara, Peter Phok and Adam Hoelzel shop their narrative function “Cottagecore” at 2025 Tribeca Creators Market. Verve and UTA collects North American sales on film.

O’Hara leads from a script she wrote. Synopsis “Cottagecore” reads: When jealousy and annoyance is released during a polyamorous, gen z intimacy retreat, the weekend goes down in violent chaos.

O’Hara is also prepared to direct Harvey Keitel and Rita Moreno in his upcoming psychological thriller, “Theirs.”

“Snare” is presented at Tribeca to buyers as part of the Creator’s marketplace. Check out the teaser below.
