What does American Idol What do contestants do when they’re not appearing on the show?
They keep themselves pretty busy.
Winner of season two Ruben Studdard remember how packed his schedule was with song selection, preparation, vocal coaching and filming for show packages and commercials.
“Thursday we got the songs,” he recalled of one Interview 2023 with West Byrd. “Friday we picked the songs. Friday-Saturday we shot commercials. Sunday we made the final picks. Then Sunday night-Monday night we went to the studio to make sure everything was right for the track. And then Tuesday morning we’d do a dry run of the show, like top to bottom. So when you see the package when people say, ‘You should vote for X, Y, Z’ already on Tuesday morning.”
Then of course there is the show itself. “Wednesday is the elimination, and then it all starts again,” Ruben added. — And it gets even tougher when the group gets smaller because the work is the same.
Jena Irene Asciutto have shared a similar opinion.
“As the weeks went by and people were eliminated, the remaining people were responsible for filling that section of time,” the season 13 runner-up shared Business Insider. “So we were needed for more things. And I think like the top eight was when we started doing Ford commercials every Sunday.”
