Shawn Hatosy adapts to be a fan favorite on ‘The Pitt’

Ever since he played the sweet face teenage boy who stands up for Kevin Kline Kline’s investigative gay teacher at the end of 1997’s “In & Out”, Shawn Hatosy has loved himself to a wide audience.

In the intermediate years he has worked directly and shows up in films directed by Robert Rodriguez (“Faculty)”, Werner Herzog (“Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans”) and Michael Mann (“Public Enemies”) and on TV in acclaimed series such as NBC/TNT: S police drama “Southland” and TNT’s crime saga “Animal Kingdom. Now his supportive turn is like Dr. Jack Abbot, a doctor in Max’s “The Pitt”, earns him a new type of praise. Do not keep in mind that the character is shown in less than a third of the first 15 episodes of the series.

“I’ve never experienced anything like it,” Hatosy said. Dr. Abbot works the night shift, initially only crosses roads with Noah Wyle’s Dr. Collage When he is getting ready to knock out. But a mass shooting takes him back to the hospital, and over time we learn that he is a military veterinarian and amputated who has a well of pain.

“The answer has been so huge – of course in the industry, which has been nice – but also playing a character that is widely liked,” he said. “I have played some characters where it can go either way, you also know, just go out into the world and meet people watching the show, who were hit by it, where a doctor or an amputated with one leg tells me:” This is a life -changing show for me. No one has ever given a voice to me. “

Part of the appeal by Dr. Abbot, believes Hatosy, is how honestly he handles the movement of his job and his life. “He is someone who has learned to lead without ever asking for it, and it built from this idea that you do not really decide.

To play Dr. Abbot is something of a full circle moment for Hatosy, who in 2006 had a guest playing role as a patient in NBC’s “ER.” In the middle of augthts, Hatosy came again with “Is“ Creator John Wells for “Southland.” “Our creative
The relationship has been developed and deepened over the years, and with each project that confidence has grown, “Hatosy said.” John’s belief in me makes me feel that I can take risks, drive deeper and completely live in character. “

Hatosy is currently shooting horror comedy follower ”Ready or not 2: here I will“With his faculty Costar Elijah Wood, but with a second season of” The Pitt “in the works, he will be back in scrubs soon enough. Whether Dr. Abbot is more prominent in season 2, as many fans hope, Hatosy will not say. Audition for a guest role on” I was so “I was” said “” that has been going on now for 20 years. ”
