Robert De Niro will cooperate again with the director David O. RussellAdding a Gen Z icon to the mix: Jenna Ortega.
Indiewire confirmed that De Niro and Ortega will play a Pseudo Paul Newman and Tom Cruise for Russell’s version of “The Color of Money”, entitled “Shutdown. “Ortega will start as Amatuer in Pool Hall who learns the ways for lifelong pool Hustler De Niro. Deadline first reported the news.
The official synopsis reads: “De Niro plays Jake Kejeune, one of the last masters in a disappearing craft – the pool Hustler. After living and lost by the roll of a ball in smoky backrooms, Jake meets Mia (Ortega), a young subordinate herself, herself heeled her electrical.
“Shutout” is written by Alejandro Adams, with Russell who directs and produces together with RK Films’ Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum and Mark Bombback. Black Bear will introduce the project for international buyers on the coming Cannes Film Market. Caa Media Finance handles US rights. De Niro will get Honor Palme d’O or At this year’s Cannes.

De Niro played earlier in Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook”, “American Hustle”, “Amsterdam” and more. Russell is represented by CAA and 42WEST; De Niro by Caa and RMG; Ortega of CAA and point of view.
In addition to “shutdown” Russell also has John Madden Biopic “Madden” In the works with Nicolas Cage describing the NFL icon.
