Amazon MGM Studios started their first Film slate with something really big, the first look at “Project Hail Mary“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s Sci-Fi Epic starring Ryan Gosling.
In the extended trailer that opened Amazon MGM’s presentation, Gosling plays a teacher in high school to help stop the sun from dying, in the end forced him to go into an impossible endeavor in deep space, longer than anyone has ever passed, not only to keep the sun from dying, but also all other star in the galaxy. It is enough to say, he is reluctant and tells Sandra Hüller that he puts “not in astronaut.”
The trailer has incredible external space effects and shows him to meet a stranger, which Lord described as Rocky, “the most lovely stranger since ET”
The film is based on a best -selling book by “The Martian” author Andy Weir, and the film represents Amazon MGM’s increasing commitment to theater. The studio stated that it intends to release 15 films in 2027 (the studio head Mike Hopkins said it already has 14 films planned for 2026).
Gosling, Lord and Miller took the stage at the Coliseum to talk about the film and said that everything is still ongoing work and that “the effects are not made.” Gosling added that it made the Cinemacon audience the “first people in the world to see something from” Project Hail Mary “which is not my mother.”
Gosling and the directors also proclaimed the film as a really great experience and joked that they used PLFs as their monitors and that “we tried to put it on a TV once, it doesn’t fit.”
“Project Hail Mary” is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and written by Drew Goddard. In addition to Gosling and Hüller, it plays Milana Vayntrub and James Ortiz. The film comes from the executive producer Amy Pascal, who recently moved his first appearance to Amazon MGM in a move that will separately see her Part control of the James Bond -Franchis With Harry Potter veteran David Heyman.
Amazon MGM Studios releases “Project Hail Mary” in theaters on March 20, 2026.
