Paul Dano comes back in the director’s chairman and will be reunited with his “swiss army man” collaborators Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (better known as the Daniels), a person with knowledge of the project told Indieview.
Dano writes the script for an indefinite comedy that will be set on Universal Pictures under Daniel’s overall deal with the studio, and he is also in conversation to direct filmthat would be his second feature and his first film Since 2018’s “Wildlife.”
Plott information is held under cover for the film.
Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert and Jonathan Wang will produce through their playgrounds Banner through the overall deal with universal pictures. Dano is also in conversation to produce.
Daniels is currently working on his follow -up of his best picture -winning film “Everything Everywhere at on a Ene”, which is also still untitled but is Set to a release date July 12 2026. Dano’s film is one of the only films they are intended only to produce during their business.
Dano was the star in 2016’s ”Swiss Armyman“The first feature directed by Daniels and which premiered at Sundance 2016, and it played Dano as a man stranded on a deserted island who finds his way to safety thanks to the help of a farting corpse played by Daniel Radcliffe (and you thought sausage fingers were strange).
Dano’s “Wildlife” 2018 played Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal and was a story about a teenage boy who struggles with his mother’s behavior after their father abandon them to take a dangerous job. The movie was nominated for three films Independent Spirit Awards.
Since then, Danos also acted in films such as “The Batman”, “Dumb Money”, “Okja” and Universal’s “The Fabelmans.” He has also been busy on TV with projects such as “Escape from Dannemora”, “Mr. and Mrs Smith” and most recently “The Studio.”
Senior Executive Vice President of Production Development Erik Baiers will monitor the project for the studio.
Dano is represented by WME, anonymous content and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher. Daniels and playgrounds are represented by Mosaic and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman. Wang is represented by Granderson des Rochers.
