“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” won outstanding visual effects in a Fotoreal function, the top function price at the 23rd annual Visual Effects Society Awards and the one that most corresponds to Oscar for best visual effects. The celebration of performance in visual effects took place on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Sci-Fi-Primat The sequel beat “Dune: Part two”, which went into the evening with Most nominations (seven) and emerged with most gains (four): outstanding performance in a Fotoreal function, outstanding CG film, outstanding effects simulations in a Fotoreal function and outstanding composition and lighting in a function.
The victory for the “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” does not necessarily make the film a Frontunner in Oscar’s visual effects. During the 22 years of VES prices, the winner Oscar continued 12 times, but the two groups have only matched three times over the past ten years. The three previous payments in the restarted “Planet of the Apes” franchise – “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” 2011, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” 2014 and “War for the Planet of the Apes” 2017 – All Won the Top Ves Award, just to lose on Oscar Night to “Hugo”, “Interstellar” and “Blade Runner 2049”.
“The Wild Robot” also had a fantastic evening on Tuesday and won four of the five categories where it was nominated, including the best VFX in an animated function. The only category it did not win was outstanding composition and lighting in a function, which went to “Dune: Part II.”
On the TV page, “Shōgun” again proved irresistible to voters and won the top prize (outstanding visual effects in a Fotoreal episode) for the pilot, “Anjin.” There are three wins bound with “The Penguin”, whose victories include the best support for VFX in a Fotoreal episode, for “Bliss.”
In the commercial area, “Coca-Cola: The Heroes” came out on top.
During the show, which was hosted by the Brothers, Keanu presented Reeve’s Emmy winning “Shōgun” star producer Hiroyuki Sanada with the VES award for Creative Excellence. The other Honoreans were Dr. Jacquelyn Ford Morie (for the Georges Méliès Award) and Takashi Yamazaki (for the Visionary Award).
