The music world lost a legend when Ozzy Osbourne died back in July, and MTV does its part to ensure that late prince of darkness Remember to be a global rock icon.
This Sunday 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will include a special tribute to the black Sabbath’s heavy metal singer, with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt participating in the salute.
Osbourne died on July 22 at the age of 76. His cause of death was revealed to be a heart attack, with Parkinson’s disease also listed a contributing factor. The musician also died just three weeks after he participated in a retirement concert with Black Sabbath in England’s Villa Park.
“It is with more sadness than just words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” shared the Osbourne family at that time. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We all ask to respect our family’s integrity right now.”
Music legend is survived by his wife Sharon Osbourne and his six children – Elliot Kingsley, Louis Osbourne, Jessica Starshine Osbourne, Jack Osbourne, Aimee Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne.
“I didn’t think you would leave as soon as we met where you were so full of life and your laughter filled the room. But when it is written with legends they seem to know the things we don’t. I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every time I go on stage,” Yungblud Wrote after Osbourne’s death. “Your cross around my neck is the most valuable I own. You once asked me if there was something you could do to me and as I said then and as I would say now to all of us, the music was enough. You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started everything. I’m really heartbroken. You were the greatest of all times.”
