The ongoing partnership between Osperier and neon continues to be one of the healthiest marriages in all independence film. But the horror company is preparing to follow the success of “Longlegs” and “The Monkey” with a dark look at relationships that have gone wrong.
Perkin’s latest work – and his third neon edition of 16 months – “Keeper“Seeing him to apply his clearly dark gaze to an enclosed horror movie about a woman who is caught in a haunted cabin. A new teaser released on Monday gives the fans his closest look still into the secrets it can hide.
An official synopsis for the film reads “During an anniversary trip at a distant cabin, a wife (Tatiana Maslany) is alone after her husband (Rossif Sutherland) resigns, just to confront an unfortunate presence that reveals the Cabin’s cool past.”
Perkins’ meteoric climb through the indie horror world began with the 2024 thriller “Longlegs”, which Parlayed a viral marketing campaign where Nicholas Cage’s serial killer look was kept hidden in one of this year’s biggest horror openings. The success of the film caused perkins to sign a first glance with neonSays in a statement at that time: “Do you ever hear about the filmmaker who crazy loves his distributor? No? It is because I think this may be the first time it has happened in our business where even short phone calls may be rough. While here I am with neon, as: You hang up first, no you hang up first! I could not be happier.”
The director Previously, IndieWire told The “keeper” offers a more “zoomat out” perspective on human relationships than his previous films and describes the project as an “adult, type of relationship horror.” He also noted that because the authors’ strike took place during the production, he could not have a hand in the script.
“It was done during the strike (Writers Guild), so I couldn’t write it, this beautiful Canadian guy without a trade union (Nick Lepard) wrote this movie and we figured out this thing,” Perkins said. “I could get Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland to make an adult, type of relationship scare that takes place in, more or less, a place. It is a beautiful, beautiful movie.
