NYFF 2025 Main Slate includes Noah Baumbach, Jafar Panahi


The 63rd New York Film Festival’s main slate will contain new films from Noah Baumbach, Jafar Panahi, Kathryn Bigelow, Park Chan-Wook and more. Film at the Lincoln Center announced the 34 main slate films Tuesday.

The films come from 26 countries and include two world, eight North American and 13 US premieres. Some titles will first debut at other festivals. Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly”, Bigelows “A House of Dynamite”, Parks “No Other Choice” and Kent Jones “Late Fame” all play 82th Venice Film Festival Before you cross the Atlantic to New York City.

Cannes winner in the main slate includes Jafar Panahi’s Palme d’Or Winner “It was just an accident”; Joachim Trier’s “sentimental value”, which took the Grand Prix; Jury award winner Oliver Laxes “Sirât” and Mascha Schilinski’s “Sound of Falling”; Best director and best acting winning “The Secret Agent” from Kleber Mendonça Filho; And Bi Gan’s “Resurrection”, which received the special award.

Making their main slate debut is Mary Bronstein, whose movie “If I had legs I would kick you” got Rose Byrne The Silver Bear for leading performance on Berlinale, where another main slate post, Radu Jude’s “Continental ’25” won Silver Bear for best script.

“Anyone who cares about film knows that it is an art that needs to defend, like many of our core values today,” said NyFF artistic director Dennis Lim in a statement. “In all parts of the festival, the films that we have chosen this year indicate that this protection can take many guises: documents of rejuvenation and refusal, expressions of anxiety and joy, imagination and memory day are more than being more than what is more than what is more significant time.

Among the many other prominent filmmakers who show new work in the main slate are Kelly Reichardt (“The Mastermind”), Hong Sangsoo (“What does that nature say to you”), Claire Denis (“The Fence”), Pedro Pinho (“I rest only in storm”) and Lucrecia Martel (“Landmark (” Landmarks).

As previously announced, the closing night selection, Bradley Cooper’s “Is this thing on?”will have its world premiere on the 63rd NyFF. Luca Guadagninos “After the Hunt” will open the festival and Jim Jarmusch’s “Father Mother Sister Brother” is the centerpiece.
