In their Oscar acceptance number for best documentary function, “No other land” leader Basel Adra and Yuval Abraham condemned the destruction of Palestinian lives and homes in the hands of the Israeli military, as well as the American foreign policy that enables it.
“We urge the world to take serious action to stop injustice and to stop the ethnic purification of the Palestinian people,” Adra said. “About two months ago I became a father, and I hope for my daughter that she will not have to live the same life as I live now.”
“No Other Land” talks about the meeting between Adra, a Palestinian activist who is filming the destruction of Hem in the West Bank’s Masafer Yatta and Abraham region, an Israeli journalist. When the two work together to reveal the injustices added Palestinians, they also fight with the huge differences in the rights and civil liberties granted Abraham as Israeli citizens but denied Adra.
“We see each other in the terrible destruction of Gaza and its people who have to quit, in the Israeli hostages brutally taken in the crime on October 7, which must be liberated. When I look at Basel I see my brother, but we are unequal, ”said Abraham in its acceptance number. “We live in a regime where I am free according to civil law. Basel is under military laws that destroy his life and which he cannot control. ”
Abraham said he believes there is another path to a Middle East “without ethnic supremacy”, but said that “foreign policy in this country helps to block this path.” IN interviews to promote “no other country,” Adra and Abraham condemned former President Joe Biden for not using his leverage to negotiate a weapons weapon months before one was called last January, as well as President Donald Trump for his plan to get the United States to control Gaza and expel Palestinians from the region.
“Why can’t you see that we are intertwined, that my people can be really sure if Basel’s people are really free and safe. There is another way. It’s not too late for the life of the living, ”said Abraham.
