Keira Knightley becomes sincere about their fame before “Pride & Prejudice.” The actress, who celebrates 20 anniversary by the Jane Austen adaptation this year, told Vanity Alongside the former co -star Rosamund Pike as film changed how she was viewed in the industry. Knightley had previously played in “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Bend it like Beckham” before he was Oscar-nominated for playing Elizabeth Bennett in “Pride & Prejudice.”
“Yes, it was pretty big for my career. If people come to me, it will be about it,” Knightley said about the movie. “‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ had already come out, but I believe that in public consciousness I was seen as a terrible actress. But I had this phenomenally great success with ‘pirates’. And I think this (‘Pride & prejudice’) was the first to be a phenomenal great success, but was also criticized.”
She continued, “So I remember it came out maybe the same year, maybe at about the same time as” Pirates 2. “And I got the worst reviews ever for it and then also nominated for an Oscar at the same time-it was in my 21-year-old head pretty confusing.”
Knightley also recalled being 17 when “Bend it Like Beckham” was released. “I got terrible reviews for it-or at least the ones I remember, or those who, in your 17-year-old brain, actually sink in,” she said. “Of course, only those who are negative. So I think it (‘Pride & Prejudice’) was the first time it would have been unequivocally positive, right? All these voices of self-doubt are so high when you are in your teenagers or 20s. But in an adult brain who has a lot of experience, you can kind of,” you can. ”
Knightley told me earlier The times It was the year that was “to do and break” her career, with both “Pirates of the Caribbean” follower and “Pride & Prejudice” was released. “It’s a fun thing when you have something that did and break you at the same time,” she said. “I was seen as shit because of them, and yet because they did so well I got the opportunity to make the movies that I stopped getting Oscar nominations. They were the most successful films I will ever be a part of and they were the reason I was taken down in public. So they are Very confused place In my head. ”
