On Monday August 11 British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the roll -out of the first BAFTA Awards, planned to take place on Sunday, November 2 in Los Angeles, California. And although this is really a new event, it fills a BAFTA-size holes on Awards Calendar, from 2020.
Officially described the awards as the first event of its kind in the United States, which gives A new series of special prices over film, games and TV Recognizing individuals and organizations that have had a significant and positive impact on the sector. The event will give the iconic BAFTA mask on three excellent Honorees, which only marks the sixth time the BAFTA mask is awarded in the United States, which marks a significant milestone for Bafta North America.
IndieWire has confirmed that this news is coming with the final message that BAFTA previous Special dividend ceremony in North America, Britannia Awardshas officially quit. Britannia Awards, founded in 1989 and presented by Bafta Los Angeles, were intended to honor individuals and companies that have devoted their careers or business assignments to promote the art forms for the moving image in the United States, the United Kingdom and thereafter. They were presented most recently in 2019. 2020 they were canceled because of the Covid-19 pandemic and they have not returned since then.
That event issued prices for excellence in FilmWorldwide contributions to entertainment, excellence in director, excellence in comedy, excellence in television and this year’s British artist. In 2019, these awards were shared to Jane Fonda, Jackie Chan, Jordan Peele, Steve Coogan, Norman Lear and Phoebe Waller-Bridge respectively.
BAFTA SPECIAL AWARDS is a gift from BAFTA ACADEMY. Per BAFTA -FASSING represents the awards a new chapter “which reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to celebrate global excellence in film, games and television and to deepen commitment with the creative communities in North America.” With these awards, BAFTA also reproduces its interest in assigning video games and their creators, still a rarity in the usual price space.
The next BAFTA Film Awards is scheduled for Sunday 22 February 2026. BAFTA Awards will not be only USA-based events, as BAFTA hosts several annual tea parties, including Los Angeles TV Tea Party on September 13, New York Tea Party on September 27, and the official 2026 BAFTA Tea Party on January 10, 2026, before film prices.
