Neon Doc about Merc Trying Venezuela Coup

One of those Buzzier -documentaries to get out of the Toronto International Film Festival 2024The Jen Gatien and Billy Corbens “Men of War” Is also one who sticks with you – even so confusing and contradictory and thoroughly attached the story it tells is. Now the trailer for ”Warriors“Is here.

It tells the mysterious story of Jordan Goudreau, a forty-something Green Basker that turned Mercenary that accepted $ 200 million from Venezuelan dissidents to put together a team and try to overthrow Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorial government with silent support from the first Trump administration.

If this incident, the code name Operation Gideon, did not make lots of headlines, it was because it happened in May 2020, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when attention was much elsewhere. But those who are aware of that nickname The Bay of Swigs for the small -scale nonsense of it. Was it ever meant to succeed? Did a skilled operation like Goudreau really think it would do? Two of his colleagues from the ex-US Army were captured for several years in Venezuela when the assignment inevitably failed.

Gatien and Corben tell a gripping story and have some astonishing personalities: There is a Venezuelan dissident in a Miami floor that is obsessed with Ninjas which is particularly memorable – Miami is described as today’s version of “Casablanca,” a place where exile from all of Latin America gathers to gather to gather to to gather for to gather to Unmatched, a place where exile from all over Latin America gathers to plot their comeback, which makes everything shady that is necessary to make their unmatched, a place where exile from all over Latin America gathers to plot their comeback, to do what is shadowy business that is necessary.

You can see why Neon came on board as a distributor: this is a doctor who is intended to inspire obsession, and maybe some awards as well. Goudreau, in particular, as a fascinating protagonist, from the moments he speaks of avoiding a Swat team in LA in the aftermath of Operation Gideon’s failure (Trump administrator, tried to determine its denial of knowledge of this plot, moved quickly to arrest him), jumped on a motorcycle and on his way to the mechanic

He has then returned and waits for trial in Tampa. There may not be lots of filmmaker distance or objectivity here, however: AP reportsCo-director Gatien set up his Manhattan Loft of $ 2 million as Bond to secure his release before the trial can begin.

“Men of War” will be available at the request of Neon on Tuesday, September 9th. See the trailer below.
