Sullivan – which was also rescued from the fire – was accused of abuse in the first degree, kidnapped in the second degree, illegal restraint in the first degree, cruelty to persons and ruthless danger in the first degree. Her bond was set at $ 300,000 and planned to be in court March 26.
Sullivan’s lawyer Caloids claimed his client’s innocence and denied all charges brought against her.
“That’s definitely not true,” Kaloidis told NBC Connecticut. “He was not locked up in a room. She did not limit him in any way. She provided food, she provided protection. She was blown away by these accusations.”
“We believe that when the evidence comes out, you will see that she is not the villain she is made to be,” he continued. “Absolutely not.”
At the same time, the victim’s half -sister shared insight into the family’s year -long search for his younger brother.
“I’ve always known that he has existed,” she told NBC Connecticut. “I’ve always loved him and I’ve always tried to find him. I’ve been looking for him for over a decade. I wanted to wait until he was 18. I am almost 35 now. There was nothing … no social media, no court registers.”
