Who would have believed that Liam Neeson Could be the next Leslie Nielsen? The “Taken” icon And the late comedy legend now shares more than just initials: Neeson plays the son of Nielsen’s beloved ”The naked gun“The character Frank Drebin, as Nielsen portrayed in the 80s TV series” Police Squad! “and original” naked gun ” film franchise. It is now Neeson’s turn to be Frank Drebin Jr., yet another unfortunate detective that his father whose case always becomes a comedy of wrong.
“The Naked Gun” start is directed by “SNL” and Lonely Island Alun Akiva Schaffer, with Seth Macfarlane and Erica Huggin’s producer. Schaffer together wrote the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. Both Schaffer and Daniel M. Stillman Executive Produce.
“The Naked Gun” plays Neeson as the next generation of Drebins. The official synopsis reads: “Only one man has the special set of skills … to lead the police group and save the world! Lt Frank Drebin Jr. (Neeson) follows in his father’s footsteps in ‘The Naked Gun.'” Pamela AndersonPaul Walter Hauser, Cch Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu and Danny Huston co -star.
Neeson told us earlier Comingsoon.com that he felt ”A little nervous“About leading a sequel to the iconic comedy films. Neeson says he knows his comedy chops have” to be proven. ”
“It’s a good script,” Neeson said. “Akiva Schaffer from ‘SNL’s world is together and he is the director. So we’ll see. We are still in the casting process for the other parts, but the script, there are some very fun laughs aloud moments.”
Meanwhile, “The Last Showgirl” star said under “Late evening with Seth Meyers” That Neeson was “hysterical” in the role. “All this” Saturday Night Live “crew, (Schaffers) friends, it was just to throw out jokes,” she said. “Some were fun, others were not, but others were – most were fun.
