A new one Kelly Reichardt Movie is always reason for celebration, and in the fall she will see her Return to the large screen with the “Mastermind. “The Josh O’Connor vehicle sees the famous intentional director who takes his talents to New England in the 1970s, with the actor in the lead role as a carpenter who makes a regrettable career pivot to art theft.
An official synopsis for film Reads: “In a soothing corner of Massachusetts around 1970, JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor) turned, an unemployed carpenter, plans his first big heist. When things go heights, his life, his life,” unscivered.
“The Mastermind” premiered in the competition at the Film Festival 2025, where the critics praised Reichardt for branched from her typical Pacific Northwest sites and subjects while still keeping her distinct style intact.

“Mastermind” is written and directed by Kelly Reichardt, who is reunited with his often cinemas Christopher Blauveelt. In addition to O’Connor stars Alana Haim, Gaby Hoffman, John Magaro, Hope Davis and Bill Camp.
