What does Jonathan Glazer, Miguel Gomes and now, do Karyn Kusama Everyone has in common? A Shared estimate for Spanish author Luis Buñuel.
During a visit to the Criterion’s wardrobe, “Jennifer’s Body” leader Kusama quoted how Buñuel played with Power Onscreen, especially in his satirical films focusing on the elite class. Kusama chose features that were all about the theme of power: who has it, who is looking for it and who distributes it.
“Back to that view of power, I feel that someone who really always has fun on it and done a good job of exploring it with humor and surrealism is Luis Buñuel,” Kusama said. “There is a Buñuel set of three films: ‘Discreet charm of the bourgeoisie’, ” The Phantom of Liberty ‘, and’ the unclear object of desire ‘, all in a set. I will make it and make my mind blow again.”
Buñuel directed 35 films between 1929 and 1977 in his career. His beloved psychological drama from 1953 “Él” received just a 4K theatrical re-publishing. Buñuel also directed Catherine Deneuve in the legendary in 1967 film “Beautiful day.”
Kusama also chose Coen Brother’s best image winner “No Country for Old Men”, Nancy Savocas “Dogfight” and Martha Coolidge’s “Not a Pretty Picture” in the criterion. Kusama quoted how “no country for old men” as a “revolutionary” movie that exceeds the genre even when he is a “mainstream” edition. Kusama added that “Not a Pretty Picture” director Coolidge is a “real hero” of her, and that Coolidge later movie “Valley Girl” is one of her “Desert Island Top Five” films.
Other latest wardrobe criteria have included Julia Fox, Julia Garner, Brady Corbet, Carrie Coon, Pamela Anderson, Mikey Madison and Harris Dickinson. The Criterion cabinet Also recently brought the experience to SXSW after successful runs at the New York Film Festival and thereafter. Pop-up allows protectors, who queue in line for hours starting early in the morning, to record their own choices from within a truck.
