District Attorney Michael Morrissey pushes back to Karen Read defense accusations
In a long August 25, 2023, Video -speaking, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey Denied that some struggle occurred in the Albert home at night O’Keefe died. Eleven people had given statements saying they didn’t see the official entering the house, he said, and “zero people” said they saw going in. Data from O’Keefe’s phone found under his body, Morrissey said, “shows that his phone did not enter that home.”
To accuse one of the witnesses of murder was “outrageous,” the prosecutor added. In addition, he said, Proctor had no opportunity to plant evidence or motives for doing so. (Read has said that she cracked her taillight that pulled out of the garage to look for O’Keefe, but said it was crushed only after her vehicle was in police repository.) Proctor did not have a “close personal relationship” with someone involved in the investigation, said Morrissey, and “every suggestion of the opposite is a lie.”
Prosecutor Lally argued against a defense movement to get records of texts, conversations and social media between Proctor’s wife and Brian Albert’s sister -in -law Jennifer McCabeOne of the people with read when O’Keefe’s body was found. Lally said under a court in January 2024, “as Commonwealth understands it, Trooper Proctor has a sister who has a friend who has a sister who has a spouse who has a brother who has a wife, who has a sister who is Jennifer McCabe.”
