Fantasy is often an important ingredient for meeting, but as Simia said it also has an important place in the interpersonal relationships that make an artist’s work possible.

“There are many egos in Hollywood and they are very easily dilapidated,” Simien said. “And when you start telling people what it was like to work with so and so and you are honest about it, so and so tends not so, and they tend to tell others so and sos on similar, private, I don’t know, stylish-rich people-overworks not to work with you.”

Nobody wants to work with toxic personalities, but it is probably inevitable. Instead of entering that toxicity or even answering it, Simia said, it is important not to take anything too personal.

“You have to listen to the note behind the note, which will serve you well in all careers in Hollywood, but you want to listen to the esoteric significance behind what the person tells you,” Simia said. “There is very little simple feedback or information that I think someone should really take to nominal value.”
