Jeff Bezos wasted no time to buy out long James Bond producer Barbara broccoli after an alleged little one.
In a new report from Hollywood ReporterAmazon’s CEO Bezos was determined to take All creative control For IP through Amazon MGM Studios – which was announced in February 2025 for a reported cost on 1 billion dollars. Days that price tag? Pure retaliation.
In December 2024, Wall Street Journal Published a paragraph where Broccoli is quoted to tell his personal friends that Amazon managers were “fucking idiots” in the middle of the collaboration with the Bond franchise.

Sources near the franchise claimed that Amazon was approaching Broccolis with “Ton heights for a TV series based on Moneypenny, MI6 Secretary (…) and a show about Bond Cia Buddy Felix Leiter, and maybe even something involving a woman 007.” Still, “Predictable was broccoli and Wilson was not interested.”
Wilson said earlier (via THR) after MGM sales to Amazon that he and Broccoli were “very reluctant to delegate” the use of IP for “10 or 20 hours in a TV show” instead of a feature film. Broccoli at that time added: “It’s not something we’ve ever wanted to do.”
Amazon may even have trouble finding a filmmaker to control a franchise payment, even less. Osgood Perkins recently closed the idea to direct a Bond movie and simply say on Reddit, “No, for Fuck Jeff Bezos. ”
Oscar winner Edward Berger, who directed both “Conclave” and “All Quiet on the Western Front”, was rumored to be in conversation with Bond producers Broccoli and Wilson before Amazon took over creative control.
