It may be the comic book film The genre’s largest consequence room: How do you break Fantastic Four? This weekend, despite positive mouth to mouth and a solid opening weekend, the quartet’s latest – subtitles “first steps” – 66% remain in the domestic Cash office. No doubt, before Hollywood looks to create the next adventure, they will look back on what have Worked before – and the last unequivocal success came from the simple title “Fantastic Four” 2005, which contained Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and IAon Gruffudd.
Now, “unambiguous”, to be fair, does not count reviews – “first steps” has certainly exceeded this older version when it comes to critical reception. But the film gathered three times its budget and managed to produce a sequel in 2007 – “Rise of the Silver Surfer” – which also made money. Of course, after that, Marvel Studios became one thing, and something called MCU happened. But in the middle of all was Gruffudd, which originated in the film role which was now played by the man of the hour Pedro Pascal (unless you count the notorious unprecedented movie from 1994). In a new interview with Vulture, Gruffudd offered its fantastic wisdom, and what it was exactly it was to be in a comic book film before the idea of a comic book universe was implemented.
“We could not have known what the future had for Marvel and the appetite for these films and the ability to do them as the technology progresses,” said Gruffudd. “For us, we Certainly Felt that we were being true to the comic. The comics aren’t as dark and violent as blade and x-men; they have a light, family feel. We believed we were a True representation of what Was in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s minds. Movie is it still resonates today amongst the tens of movies that are now in the marvel universe, and it holds up emotionally and technically. “
The tone – as Gruffudt notes – is a little less serious than many in MCU, which embraces a certain level of greatness reminiscent of epic of Hollywood -yore. But this is not to say that the idea of interconnection was not broken in 2005. One of the X-Men actually made almost a como in the movie-I a scene where Reed would turn into Wolverine (ALA Hugh Jackman) to impress Sue Storm (Alba).
“I don’t know why it didn’t make it to the movie. To pay tribute to the big Hugh Jackman was a pretty excitement because I absolutely love him as an actor and his Wolverine. I’m glad it has a chance to exist somewhere. It was a reshoot, and I was in Vancouver on a sound scene and Jessica was in New York, so we were not perfect, but we were perfect, but we were not perfect, but we were not looking, but we were not looking, but we were not looking, but we were not looking, but we were not looking, but we were not going to be, but we were not going to.
When it comes to why the series did not continue, Gruffudd explains that “there was definitely that kind of speed, and the plan was to make three films, but these decisions are beyond my control.”
Perhaps in a potential sequel to the summer hit, a recall to the Gruffudd era can cause the nostalgia -series magazine’s fans. Sure – as evidenced by Evan’s short return as Johnny Storm in “Deadpool vs. Wolverine” -The Precedent is available to gather the old 20 -century Fox Marvel project together with their current incarnations (think “Spider-Man: No Way Home”).
“Fans are convinced that I will be in a certain aspect of this universe that has not been written or filmed yet,” said Gruffudd. “But this idea of people who show up has been introduced, as Chris in ‘Deadpool’ or I think Mister Fantastic showed up in the form of John Kratski at a time. So no, I haven’t been contacted to resume Mister Fantastic. But you never know.”
