IFC Films Rebrands as Independent Film Company

In time for the 25th anniversary of the iconic brand, IFC movies receives an update: as independent Film Business (IFC). Much about the New York-based leader in the identity of the Indie Film will remain the same, although AMC Networks Film Head Scott Shooman Indiewire told us that the company’s strategy for releasing strategies – including Windows and number of theaters – will be more specifically adapted to each movie.

Independent film companies Will now fall under a new named umbrella from IFC Entertainment Group, during which AMC Networks’ Four Film Verticals will now fall: Independent Film Company, IFC Center Theater in West Village of Manhattan, Genre Release Rlje Movies and Premier Horror Streaming Service Shiver. This season, for example, IFC Entertainment Group “Clown in a Cornfield” (Rlje, May 9) and the Cannes premiere “Dangerous Animals” (Independent Film Company/Shudder, June 6

The IFC Entertainment Group was embedded to adopt the update after a successful 2024 with some of the company’s highest box-officer performance in its history, with films including “Late night with the Devil”, “Oddity”, The Taste of Things “,” in a violent nature “,” Ghostlight “and the Oscar Nomine Nomin was also the company’s first Oscar nominees in a decade.)

“We had our second best year theatrical ever last year and beat our friends and competitors at Bleecker, Roadside, Sony Classics, Magnolia. We did better than everyone last year, theater, which I think is a surprise for many people when they go back and look at it,” Shooman said in an indieview interview.

Shooman said that a “toe in genres” will still be a guiding principle for the company while he still has the “author -oriented vision.” (Over IFC Entertainment Group’s divisions, Shooman said that they hope to acquire “four or five” titles from Cannes this year.)

“We make about 50 films a year. Shudder buys about 30. IFC and Rlje combine in about 20, so we have different needs over different areas,” said Shooman. “Shudder is the leading horror service in the states, we have the luxury that a little is in the incoming conversation business, but we also have the best curators who sniff out who these author is and how we get (movies like)”The ugly steps“Before anyone else does.” On April 18, the IFC edition is now in theaters and will go to Shudder at the end of its 21-day window. “A theater edition is the best advertising campaign for Marathon for a movie, and we treat it that way. Streaming is an extremely important part of the revenue stream and the pie for each movie, but it is a piece of it for us,” said Shooman, who said that the new IF will still keep theatrical windows in Great Esteme.

When it comes to the company’s increased strategy to release strategies in the middle of Rebrand, Shooman said: “It’s about taking the right screens and having a tailor -made strategy for each movie. Not every movie deserves a first edition of 2,000 screens, but when a movie deserves it, we want to be capable of doing so,” said Shooman. “We will not hit a switch and do this overnight. There has been something we have worked towards intentionally.

When it comes to the beloved IFC Center Theater in New York, which screen IFC Entertainment Group titles as well as repertoire editions and first driven independent films from other distributors, nothing will change there.

“The center is an institution. It has a long history. I think it is the 20th year this year, and it has a wide range of films from documents to abroad to the repertoire that in that place and speaks to the curatorial edge, we have some of the best curators who pick what comes there,” said Shooman. “We still hope to play our movies there. It is not necessarily the right home for the more horror and genres; it may be exempt from the rule.

In Terms of Reinforcing the Rebrand and How To Get The Industry On Board With a Big Change, at the Least Name-Wise, to a Legacy Company, Shooman Said, “That’s a lot of just walking around around and saying to People, ‘This is why Hear it happen so often that people say, ‘oh, this is a shudder movie, not an IFC movie. So it’s just being outward, Talking to Yourself, Talking to the agencies, who talk to the financiers.
