Although fans may think that Stamos and Loughlin’s friendship started when she joined Full house In 1988, their ties actually go back further.
“We were friends,” he continued HuffPost Live 2013. “We were on the soaps together.”
The fact is that IS alum said the two even went on a date to Disneyland when they were in their late teens. But a romance was not formed. Loughlin went on to marry her first husband Michael Burns In 1989 – they finalized their divorce in 1996 and she married Giannulli the following year – and Stamos married Rebecca Romijn year 1998.
“We had a little off timing,” continued Stamos, who married to Caitlin McHugh 2018, 13 years after his divorce from Romijn was finalized. “No disrespect to her family and husband now, I’d say she could be the one who got away.”
And while Stamos is happily married to Caitlin – mother of their 7-year-old son Billy—Loughlin continues to have a place in his heart as a friend. They’re even neighbors, and fans have gotten to watch their tapes in recent years at both red carpets and further social media.
“Lori Loughlin continues to be a cherished friend to this day,” Stamos wrote in his 2023 memoirs If you would have told me. “We have weathered storms together and stood by each other’s side despite life’s obstacles.”
