“One of the most emotional actors of his generation,” reads IndieWire Review by Ben Leonberg’s “Good Boy” by 2025 SXSW Film Festival. No, we didn’t talk about any rising Juilliard degree or actor Studio Alum. We talked about an actor with four legs.
Indy is the star of “Good Boy”, and he’s a dog. 73-minute horror Film, which freelance reviewer Rafael Motomayor called one of the best of the year, is absolutely centered at his point of view because something very bad happens in his house.
The official synopsis for “Good Boy”, who also with Shane Jensen, Arielle Friedman and Larry Fessen, reads: “Our dog hero, Indy, is on a new adventure with his human owner-and best friend-life and leaving the city for a long-term family home in the country.
From the beginning, two things are very clear: Indy is careful with the creepy old house, and his affection for Todd is unsurpassed. After moving in, Indy is immediately irritated by empty corners, traces an invisible presence only he can see, perceives fantasy magazine warnings from a long death dog and is haunted by visions of the former passenger’s gloomy death. When Todd begins to give in to the dark forces swirling around the house, Indy must fight an evil intention to pull his beloved Todd into the afterlife. ”
Written by Alex Cannon and Ben Leonberg – For our money, “Good Boy” should also contain a Leonberger as a result – the movie Drew Raves on SXSW. Motomayor wrote: “We’ve all experienced the creep in a pet who knows something you can’t; the eerie sensation that comes when you see a dog Barks in the middle of the night at an empty wall, stare at nothing or wander in a hurry to hunt something that seems invisible. It’s scary enough to witness in real life, but add some haunting horror images – like Ben Leonbergs’Good boy“Goes in large selection-and it becomes a basis for one of this year’s scariest films, albeit one that also acts as an emotional and moving tribute to the emotional bond between people and their four-legged friends.”
