Scott Orlin was appointed president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in a election held two weeks after former President Helen Hoehnes Ouster.
Orlin is currently US correspondent for Cinema Magazine – a leading publication in Germany. He also contributes with video content for film online and provides Oscar coverage for Pro Sieben. Orlin won the International Media Award from Publicist Guild of America as early as 1995.
“I am honored to be chosen to represent HFPA, of which I am proud to have been a member for 35 years,” Orlin said in a statement.
He continued: “At this time, I would like to correct the latest media reports on the status of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The process of solving HFPA has temporarily paused by the board. This decision was made to conduct an independent investigation of the process of selling the Golden Globe Intellectual Eperfate (IP).”
Hoehne, who saw HFPA through restructuring among allegations of misunderstanding and lack of diversity in its membership, was voted out of the service earlier this month when the Golden Globes Press Org’s board voted to pause the resolution at the end of last month. The vote for her removal passed 59-1 with two closed.
HFPA’s current board member is: Vera Anderson, Henry Arnaud, Tina Jønk Christensen, Barbara Gasser, Earl Gibson III, Sharlette Hambrick, Gabriel Lerman, Yuki Nakajima, Scott Orlin, Barbara de Oliveira Pinto and Kirpi Uimon.
Thewrap’s Steve Pond commented on the ongoing changes in Globes in a review of the 2025 ceremony and said: “This felt like an old style Golden Globes show: loose, messy, touching sometimes, boring on second and mostly consequence in the Oscar race.”
