“Mr. Hackman showed evidence of advanced Alzheimer’s disease. I am not aware of what his normal daily functional ability was. He was in a very poor health condition,” said Santa FE medical examiner. “He had significant heart disease, and I ultimately believe that was what resulted in his death.”
The investigator was asked if Hackman died of starvation, and the reviewer said: “I could look at fluid to determine if he was dehydrated, and I did not see evidence of dehydration. I saw evidence of very bad kidney function, and I think he died as a result of his heart disease and with Alzheimer’s was the contributing factor. ”
