While our next visit to what is now called The world of John Wick due to arrive earlier this summer, the film formerly known as Ballerina postponed to the realm of Upcoming 2025 movies. The assumed reason was because Lionsgate and director Len Wiseman wanted to increase the action In the Ana de Armas-led spinoff.
If the first trailer is any indication, that decision looks to have paid off, as this definitely looks badass. However, there are a couple of reasons that make this fresh look at Mr. Wick’s neighborhood, which is stated to take place while John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellums The story unfolds, rather bittersweet in the long run.
Ana de Armas will totally own her John Wick spinoff
Let’s start with the happier things, shall we? Although there is reason to be a little sad when you watch Ballerinas trailer, the big thing to celebrate is the fact that Ana de Armas‘Eve Macarro will positively own this middle woman in John Wick story. Personally, I had not doubted this fact for a moment, as the work of the Cuban actor in both No time to die and The gray man showed her as a powerful actor with great physicality.
The result is something that inspired Ana de armas’ hype for Ballerina to come out in a new interview. Highlighting that the material from these reshoots for the new 2025 release date “must be there,” I’m starting to think this might be another case where a picture’s choice to delay to another calendar year ended up being the best decision possible.
But for as much fun as there is to see in From the world of John Wick: Ballerina’s Introduction to the world, there is some sadness that also lies within. Part of it depends on the events of John Wick: Chapter 4with a sad dose of reality also making its way into the mix.
Why Ballerina’s trailer is such a bittersweet watch
After Lance Reddick is unclear passing In 2023, his appearances in this franchise have been warm reminders of his talent, as well as unfortunate reminders that he is no longer with us. As the trusty concierge from the New York branch of Continental, Reddick and his portrayal of Charon have always been staples of this growing action franchise. Not to mention, the character’s surprise performance at the behavior of the high table in the film that succeeds this entry also becomes a new wound to contend with.
And then there is the fallout from John Wick: Chapter 4 heartbreaking endingwho saw mr. Wick (Keanu Reeves) appears to die in battle. A fact that makes his return in these pictures even more dour, but for very different reasons. This upheaval is purely thematic, as John seems to rest in mortal peace as a result of his climactic battle with Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård).
I understand that this is a mid-control that will potentially set up Ana de Arma’s character, and maybe post-John Wick: Chapter 4 by-product game Donnie YenCaine, for future payments. This is, after all world of John Wickand new players will need to be on board. Meanwhile, it’s hard to escape such a powerful send-off for Keanu Reeves’ sleep killer, even if it means we get to see him kick ass again.
From the world of John Wick: Ballerina is currently slated for a June 6, 2025 release date. But with the trailer only promising that the film is “coming soon,” that date could change anytime in the near future. In the meantime, if you want to break your heart again, you can currently stream John Wick: Chapter 4 through Starz, which can easily be added to your existing Prime Video subscription.
