The official summary of “Megadoc” reads: “A raw, fly-on-the-Wall documentary about Francis Ford Coppola’s decades long journey to create its self-financed passion project,” Megalopolis. “The bold and unmatched epic returns in Mike Figgi’s portrait of Coppola’s creative process-weave together archive materials, unfiltered role interviews and a close-up of how the legendary filmmaker drew from Roman history, political allegory and his own singular vision to form a ‘megalpolis. memoir that develops in real time.
“Megadoc” comes Debut at Venice 2025. “Megalopolis” actor Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Nathalie Emmanuel, Dustin Hoffman, Giancarlo Esposito, Chloe Fineman, Shia Labeouf, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Voight and Talia Shire are shown in the documentary, as well as Coppola -collaboration ROPPOPO work ROPPOPOLA work.
“Megadoc” is produced by Tara Li-An and James Mockoski.
Coppola said earlier in a press release that “Megadoc” shows different perspectives on what it really was to film “Megalopolis” in Georgia. “The great filmmaker Mike Figgis shot the creation of” Megalopolis “as he saw it,” Coppola said. “Interestingly, there are many interpretations of what really happened and it is all in the documentary, although the documentary does not always say what is what. It is for the viewer to see and interpret.”
Figgis added that Coppola gave him “access to everything, including the fantastic archive material he has collected from the many readings of the script that it went from one version to another. I was more or less free to go where I wanted.
