After rolling out some of their gala heavy finders, New York Film Festival has today announced its full main slate lineup, including new films from Claire Denis, Park Chan-Wook, Noah Baumbach, Kathryn Bigelow, Kahlil Joseph, Joachim Trier, Ira Sachs and many more.
This year’s main slate contains films from 26 countries, among them two world premieres (including Bradley Cooper’s “is this on?” And Ulrich Köhler’s “Gavagai”), plus eight North American and 13 American premieres.
The festival has also programmed a number of hits from other Fests, including Cannes Prizewinners such as Jafar Panahi’s “It was just an accident”, Joachim Triers “Sentimental Value”, Oliver Laxes “Sirât”, Mascha Schilinski’s “Sound of Falling”, Kleber Mendonen “Resurection”. Berlin and Sundance hits are also offered, including Mary Bronstein’s “If I had legs I would kick you” and Radu Jude’s “Continental ’25.” Of the most important slate films, 11 will premiere at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, including Noah Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly”, Kent Jones “Late Fame” and Park Chan-Wooks “No Other Choice.”
Innocence The artistic director Dennis Lim said in an official statement: “Anyone who cares about film knows that it is an art that needs to defend, as many of our core values today. Over all parts of the festival, the films we have chosen this year indicate that this protection can take many guises: Documents of reasons and refusals, expressions and joy, enforcement, enlargement and reflections The film art is more than capable of flourishing, even in difficult times.
As previously announced is the choice of opening evening The North American premiere of Luca Guadagninos “After the Hunt”; The North American premiere of Jim Jarmusch’s “Father Mother Sister Brother” is the choice in the middle piece; and The world premiere of Bradley Cooper’s “Is this thing on?” Is the choice closing night. Streams, spotlight, revival and conversation sections will be announced in the coming weeks.
