Ted Danson and Mary Steenburg will get the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award from the TV Academy at 77th Emmy Awards. The academy will give the award to the married couple, acknowledged for their philanthropy and activism, during the Primetime ceremony and Telecast on Sunday, September 14.
The TV Academy began publishing Bob Hope Humanitarian Award 2002.
The Bob Hope Humanitarian Award has only been given five times in the history of the academy. Former recipients include Oprah Winfrey (who received the first award), George Clooney and Sean Penn. Danny Thomas received the prize posthumously in 2004. Danson and Steenburg will be the first couple assigned to honor.
The TV Academy quoted a lithany for reasons for which the spouses received this recognition. Dance’s environmental and marine efforts, as well as together with the American Ocean’s campaign, were elicited, as was Steenburg’s collaborations with organizations as artists for a free South Africa, Elizabeth Glas Pediatric Aids Foundation, Heifer International and No Kid Hungry. Together, the couple was recognized for their work with the non -profit angels at risk and efforts that allies in the LGBTQ community.
“Ted Danson and Mary Steenburg have long used their voices – and their hearts – because masters are causing to raise the planet and its people,” said the TV Academy chairman Cris Abrego in a statement. “From environmental advocates to humanitarian relief, they lead with grace, integrity and purpose. Television Academy is proud to honor their extraordinary heritage of service with Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.”
Danson and Steenburgen will have the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award during the 77th Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14. The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ at 17.00 PDT/20 PM EDT.
