Cristin Milioti Just won his first Emmy Award for HBO’s ”Penguin“And her performance such as Sofia Falcone (Gigante). One year after the limited series first made waves, this is only the latest in a series of awards that Milioti has been given for their work in” The Penguin “, including a Screen Actors Guild Award -nomination and Critics Choice -.
Milioti was escorted to the stage by the cost of Coster Colin Farrell and got a standing ovation from “The White Lotus” star Natasha Rothwell.
“It is very difficult to know to live right now in this world, so I am deeply grateful for the bright spots,” said miliotic in its acceptance number (scribbled on the back of the therapy drawings from earlier this week). “To inhabit that this woman was a bright place for me, even though it was very cruel. Playing her felt like flying.”
While “The Penguin” begins after Colin Farrell’s eponymous character introduced in the 2022 movie “The Batman”, the series introduces Miliotis Sofia as the anti -hero to watch. Sofia is fresh more than a decade inside Arkham State Hospital and is quick to avenge for her brother Alberto’s death (Michael Zegen) – and slowly and methodically in demanding revenge against family members who ensured her captivity at Arkham.
Milioti received early praise for the series, but section 4, “Cent’anni,” was her Tour de Force. The Flashback hour directed by Helen Shaver talks about Sofia’s life before Arkham and her time inside, all the result of a false conviction that ultimately led back to her father, Carmine (Mark Stong).
Back in the winter, Milioti Indiewire talked about her process for the role, which she had two months to prepare for when reading the scripts. She quoted section 4 as a major challenge, mostly because of the physical aspects.
“Certainly many of the Arkham things … because these things were so physical, I had to keep myself,” she said. “It was almost like endurance … that section safely, it sat there with a heat pack or an ice pack or something.”
Emmy also coincides with nominations for “Black Mirror”, where the miliotic recalled its role in “USS Callister: Into Infinity”, a sequel to the Breakout section broadcast in 2017. In an interview in June with IndieWire, Milioti shared his love for both show, as well as what felt different and “tripy” about returning to “Black Mirror” after the time away.
“It’s so nice, because so often you do things that you love and they disappear or no one sees them, or they don’t turn out the way you want,” Miliot said about the acknowledgment of prices for “The Penguin.” “This was something I really loved to do and being able to continue the conversation if it is really incredible, because it just happens so rarely.”
