Chappell Roan demanded that record labels give a living salary and health care to develop artists while accepting their best new artist Grammy Award on Sunday.
“Good luck, bride!” Singer-Songwriter received a rushing applause from the crowd and standing ovations from Taylor Swift and Benson Bone-after to have urged the “most powerful people in music” to stand up for their developing talent.
The Grammy winner continued to say that she had some health insurance after being dropped by her label during the pandemic.
“It was devastating to feel so committed to my art and feel so betrayed by the system and so dehumanized not to have health insurance,” she said.

“Record labels must treat their artists as valuable employees with a lively salary and health insurance and protection,” she continued. “Labels, we have you, but do you have us?”
The star performed “Pink Pony Club” earlier at night and praised the city. Roan received six nominations for its debut album “The Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess”, including the categories “Big Four”: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Song of the Year and best new artist.
Earlier in the night on the red carpet, the Roan said that she has always been inspired by transgender people and wanted to validate and admit their experience as much as possible.
