Great party has announced film assortment for its 20th edition, promises an eclectic mix of horror, action, sci-fi, comedy, animation and Otherwise unclassified cinema It fits its status as the strangest stop on the very busy Fall Festival Circuit.
Alamo Drafthouse-backed festival, which takes place on the theater chain’s original South Lamar place in Austin, will open with the world premiere of “Primate”, Johannes Roberts’ Rabiat Chimp Pool Party Survival Saga with Troy Kotsur. The closing night selection is “Whistle”, the new IFC horror movie from “The Nun” director Corin Hardy about a group of teenagers who accidentally emit an old Aztec curse on their city.
During the week between opening and closing the night, the festival will contain dozens of genre films, including 45 world premieres and movies that have played other big Festivals. Highlights include the Blumhouse -sequel “Black Phone 2,” Paramount’s Dakota Fanning-led “Vcious” “A useful ghost,” One of IndieWire’s favorite movies by Cannes. Mark Duplass will also bring season 2 of “The Creep Tapes” back to Fantastic Fest after premiere on the series at the festival’s 2024 edition.
Fantastic Fest’s range is never completely complete before the festival begins, as many nights have the headline of secret views, which are often premieres of large fall emissions that are not announced until the shows begin. Other events include a medieval drag show and a collection for Transgender Film Center.
