Bill Hader is back at HBO. Per Amount and confirmed by indieview, writes the “Barry” creator a series about JonestownAlias The Peoples Temple Agricultural Project founded by cult leader Jim Jones.
Hader Will Earn as co-showrunner With “injury” creator Daniel Zelman. The duo will also produce, with Hader set to direct if the project would proceed at HBO. A source told Indiewire that Hader potentially starts in the series like Jones as well.
Jones founded The Peoples Temple in 1955 and established Jonestown in Guyana in 1974. Jones and more than 900 members of his Peoples Temple died in a murder-self-murder by drinking taste aid (not, which has become the word, kool-aid) laced with cyanide in Jonestown 1978.

This Jonestown project is separate from the series that “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan was Developed at HBO 2016. Leonardo DiCaprio previously produced Docusaseries “Jonestown” for Sundance TV 2018. The actor/producer was later announced To lead MGM Biopic “Jim Jones” 2021.
Håsta mentioned 2023 that he had three projects in the works after “Barry”, including a “Barry” horror movie. Hader, whose tone for the Jonestown series has not yet been classified in any genre, before told indifire That he as a director thinks it is crucial to have a “very clear idea” about scenes.
