The creation of the autumn festival season is officially over us, with Venice and Toronto To reveal their original range when the industry begins to look forward to the next price. A highlight of the TIFF range was Aziz AnsariS “Good luck“Which will premiere in Toronto before Lionsgate releases it in theaters in October. And with a role that includes Ansari, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer and Keanu Reeves (which plays a guardian angel), it may well be one of the break’s breakout hits.
Per an official synopsis, film Follows Arj (Ansari), an economic struggling player for gigs economics that crosses roads with a technical giant (Rogen) during one of the lowest points in his life. The meeting is monitored by a rather inept angel called Gabriel (Reeves) who gives Arj the opportunity to change places with his rich counterpart to see if the grass is really greener on the other side.
The full trailer shows Reeves’ Gabriel mentoring both men. He notes that this is one of his larger assignments so far, as his tasks usually revolve around preventing people from texting and driving. This is allowed to regret that he has stuck to a “budget angel.”
“Good Fortune” is the first feature film Ansari has released as a director – although his filmmaking career could have been favored by his own guardian angel. He was originally set to make his director’s debut on the movie “Being Mortal”, which also played Rogen and Palmer with Bill Murray. But the production on the film was stopped after a complaint was submitted Inappropriate behavior from Murray. Ansari then turned attention to “Happiness”, although the author’s guild of America and screen actor Guild strikes from 2023 delayed production on the film for almost a year. The filming eventually began in January 2024 (after it was originally planned to start in May 2023), but a strong festival response would make the film worth waiting.
A Lionsgate edition, “Good Fortune” will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and open in theaters on Friday 17 October. See the trailer below.
