After Baena’s death in January, Plaza Spoke for the first time to honor his often partner and husband of five years after his passing, noting that it was “an unthinkable tragedy.”
“We are deeply grateful to all who have offered support,” a Family statement obtained by E! News Jan 6 Read. “Please respect our privacy during this time.”
In the months that followed, several friends and loved ones have continued to honor Baena’s memory, including Last Disney Alum Debby Ryanthat shared a heartbreaking tribute Reflect on the band she had with her mentor.
“I have discovered that the stages of grief are not linear; they are like space stations that I have doll on, between floating periods,” Ryan wrote in an Instagram post in June. “My hope is that they eventually feel more like satellites – always creepy, often in sight, but not a place to live.”
“Six months trying to accept the new impossibility of the things we would do together,” she added. “Months of discoveries of the things he left behind; and the gifts he continues to give me and the ones he shone his light on. Thanks for everything, Jeff.”
