“Wicked”, “A Completely Unknown”, “Emilia Pérez” and “Conclave” was among the winners Wednesday at the 40th annual Artios Awards, which celebrates excellence in casting in feature films, scripts and unwritten TV, advertising and theater. The Casting Society held ceremonies in Los Angeles, New York and London.
Four Best Pictures Oscar -Challengers won their categories on Artios: “Wicked” (large budget function comedy), “A Completely Unknown” (Big Feature Feature Drama), “Conclave” (Studio or Independent Feature Drama) and “Emilia Pérez” (international function , a new category). The best animated feature Oscar Frontrunner “The Wild Robot” picked up another trophy for its moves, while two smaller films, “My Old Ass” and “Janet Planet,” were also recognized. (Artios Awards don’t cross Oscars until 2026, when the academy introduces the award for best casting.)
On the TV page, a lot of familiar titles showed up: “Shōgun” (TV pilot and first season: drama), “Baby Reindeer” (limited series), “Hacks” (TV series: Comedy) and “Slow horses “(TV series: Drama).
Five-time Tony-winning game “Stereophonic” won for Broadway comedy or drama, while four times Tony Champ “The Outsiders” won for Broadway Musical. (At the LA ceremony, which hosted by Janelle James, CSA President Destiny Lilly shared that the London Theater Award would be added for the 2026 season and honor casting in theater over the pond.)
Special Awards went to John Papsida (“Oppenheimer”), Daniel Swee (Lincoln Center Theater), Juliette Mug’s (“Emily in Paris”) and others.
