The Anthony Bourdain A24 Biopic ”Tony“Looks to be as authentic as possible – and have real chefs star along with” The Holdovers “Breakout Dominic Sessawhich depicts the late icon Bourdain. Atomic Honey Casting published an open casting call that is looking for “real restaurant kitchen staff with unique, dynamic personalities” to play roles in film. Indiewire confirmed with A24 that the casting will take place for a shooting in Provincetown, MA from May to July 2025.
Although no previous actor experience is required for the above roles, previous kitchen experience is a must. The casting call is looking for men of all ethnic groups.
Sessa plays as a young bourdain in the history of origin for the author “Kitchen Confidential” and “partly Oknown” host. Antonio Bandera’s co -stars in an unspecified role. “Tony” will be directed by Matt Johnson (“Blackberry”) with Todd Bartels and Lou Howe who write the script. The movie was announced In April 2025, with Bourdain’s property producing.
“Tony” will take place during the summer of 1976, which was Bourdain’s last experience on Cape before registering in culinary school. The film will map Bourdain’s rise from working as a dishwasher to a line chef before he starts his empire.
Bourdain died of suicide 2018 at the age of 61. “Part of the experience of watching Tony on TV was his voice. His point of view is what made these shows,” director Neville mentioned In 2021. “And if you actually – as I have – take out his voiceover from the show, they are very strange and melancholy rumors about visits to countries around the world. His point of view is doing everything for these shows. I just felt that I would make a movie and not have his point of view expressed would be wrong.”
